Children Are The Universal Subjects
The image above comes from my personal collection. It was given to me for editing by a friend, a layman photographer using a simple camera. He captured something special here. I do not know the exact context; whatever the occasion, the girls seem dressed in their very best and most festive outfits. Among the sisters a restrained yet joyful excitement is flowing — the youngest seems ready to burst from giddiness. I think often about these kids and wonder what has befallen their family. They lived north of the capital city of Yemen in a building similar to the example below, set in a mountainous zone now a theater of war. Its people have been weakened by starvation and plagued by disease; hospitals no longer function; and proper medications can no longer be found.
