Americana Favorites: Two Ladies In A Green Truck

The women perform matching smiles, broad and almost natural, full of bright teeth. Attached to their vintage American truck, we find a spare tire looking as if freshly lifted off the Firestone rack; the rubber is pristine, soaked recently in shine oil. Notice the burnished-until-golden door handle. I cannot say for sure whether the youngster in back — dressed in blue snowsuit with pink details — is real or instead a stuffed doll. It is Saint Patrick’s day and various shades of green from a deep forest to a nearly-yellow beautify our scene. There is a single representation of a shamrock behind our two ladies, affixed to the rear window of their cab. The virtual sprig stands for a whole nation, Ireland, while in a higher dimension it signifies the Christian Trinitarian God; taken together with the heads of our two ladies, we have a triangle incorporating a triangle, five particulars in one. Observed as a whole, I argue the motif could not materialize anywhere else but America.
