Crossing the Street Egyptian Style

I lived in Alexandria, Egypt for about a month and stayed two years in Cairo. The latter city sprawls on both sides of the Nile river, a metropolis containing 18 million persons, few personal vehicles but lots of taxis, delivery trucks and micro-buses. In most places there are no traffic controls whatsoever. Downtown Cairo has a few stoplights, however during my residence there I never saw one functioning properly. There are no stop signs anywhere, and no marked crosswalks. Therefore it takes skill and daring to cross the street without being killed or gravely injured. Their middle-aged citizens — as shown in my images — have perfected a technique and slip through traffic in high style.
