In The Backyard During Quarantine

Middle-aged and older Americans will recall a time when communal experiences happened with fair regularity — not the world-historical, generational events like war, earthquake and famine necessarily — but mundane happenings in television shows, and excitement generated by the release of new musical albums. In the old days we even paid attention to the speeches of our politicians; many companions could discuss subject matter and content in detail the day after a broadcast. These collective moments seemed to fragment over the years. Once again these shared experiences appear through the medium of a viral pandemic. I am thankful I can find subjects to photograph in my own backyard during this time of cloistering.
