Is This A Political Statement?
If our subject is attempting a political protest, I think he fails for lack of clarity. What inference should we draw from his pumpkin-headed mask, jumbo ears and gangster outfit — is he impersonating a politician, or a clown? He wears a suit, recently shined shoes, and is picketing a street corner in New Mexico on the sparsely-inhabited outskirts of a town, oddly over-dressed for this venue. The man does not resemble a stereotypical anarchist. He seems to project a nihilistic message: our governmental system is meaningless, and so he exhorts us to reject it through passive-aggressive behavior. Concerning the pear-shaped vowels on his placard and their bullet points on-center, I am lost and cannot explain their meaning; like bull’s-eyes they might seek to rivet our attention. Sadly the obtuseness of his message encumbers our focus and comprehension — his strange exclamation points do us no good.
